    Our client is a well established Indigenous legal rights organisation, which seeks to provide legal services to improve the economic, social and cultural development of Indigenous people.

    Based in Adelaide, a role has opened in this leading organisation for an experienced lawyer to become the Civil and Family Practice Manager. This is a highly regarded role where you can make a significant difference to Aboriginal people.

    In this role you will work independently, managing the day-to-day running of the practice and staff, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and regional offices. You will also be instrumental in the strategic direction and resource allocation of the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality, professional and culturally appropriate civil, family and human rights legal advice and representation. While providing culturally appropriate legal services to clients, you will also have the opportunity to represent the organisation at relevant forums and manage relationships with key stakeholders.

    This is an ideal position for a Senior Lawyer in family, civil or human rights law, with a passion for Social Justice, ready to take on a big leadership role. If you believe you can foster a climate of continuous improvement, learning and development, this is the role for you.

    Desired Criteria

    Admitted or eligible for admission to practice as legal practitioner in the State of South Australia and as practitioner of the High Court of Australia.

    Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal people

    Substantial experience in civil, family and human rights law in Australia

    Capacity to manage the provision of legal casework, including higher court work, and to manage legal casework briefed to other service providers.

    Leadership and management experience, including strategic planning, team building, supervising junior staff, and cultivating key relationships Demonstrated experience in the management of costs related to the provision of in-house and briefed out legal services.

    Highly developed and effective interpersonal communication, negotiation, strategic and business planning skills.
